Hi all, apologies for how long it has been between posts!
A lot has happened since finishing my 3rd year in college. I was selected for the Australian Women's Volleyroos and participated in World Grand Prix in Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago and finally back to Canberra. We then played in Asian Champs in the Philippines before I returned to Tennessee to finish my final season in America.
Playing with the Volleyroos was incredible and although I've been told that your first international season can be fairly rough, it was an awesome time with and amazing group of women. World Grand Prix was a real opportunity to learn and try to take as much in from the girls as possible. At times it was overwhelming but overall something I feel very lucky to be apart of. Especially after our first win against Trinidad and Tobago, something that a lot of players and people had put a lot of work and effort into before I joined the program. We had training camps and scrimmages leading in that were intense but a lot of fun. Mexico had a lot of fans that were obviously super excited about the tournament being there so always big crowds which made it a lot more fun for us.
Playing in Canberra was also a great thing to be apart of, and as things turned out eventually playing in the gold medal match meant for sure taking a medal in my first season with the national team. Training commenced straight after we got back to Canberra after 48 hours of travel, and we managed to get back on our feet pretty quickly. Overall, I didn't play the way I wanted to, the experience taught me so much that even in a few weeks I was able to utilize what I'd learnt at Asians where i felt that my playing and understanding of the international game became a lot stronger. We got to play Japan and China in the opening two games which might of set up an impossible task but was another truly amazing experience.
Finally flying from Manila to Martin TN started my final year of college. We were unsuccessful at turning our season around and missed out on conference tournament by a game. Despite a rough last season that had more downs than ups, my final year has become more about finding the good in the bad and finishing up my time in the states on a positive note. School this final semester has been brutal, taking 7 upper division classes and a graduate class I've had to put volleyball to the side and focus on just finishing! Graduation is set for May 5th and as sad as I am to be leaving, I never want to study again and I'm ready for the next chapter! Last month I signed with an agency for recruiting in Europe so hopefully pro is the next step! Looking forward to seeing everyone throughout parts of May and June!
Always up for a chat if you have any questions!
