GMVA Youth

The GMVA Youth Program started in 2014 and for the majority of athletes, is our first year program where kids start to refine the basic technical aspects of volleyball.

The trainings are mostly done on the indoor wood and indoor sand courts at Dandenong. We feel a larger period on the sand for this squad is the best way to teach the kids the importance of correct court movement and for them to learn the soft touch of volleyball. While they train on the sand, it is not a beach volleyball squad as such. We are using the surface to help strengthen their bodies to prepare them for their future in volleyball and hopefully get them ready to start jumping high on the hard court surface.
The surface split is about 65% indoor sand and 35% indoor court.

Squad size: 18 male and 18 female athletes
Training night: Monday 6pm to 8pm at the State Volleyball Centre

GMVA Youth is a co-gender training environment so very suitable for everyone.
