First Pro Season

3/20/2018

First year of Professional Volleyball, Playing at Club Bigbank Tartu in Estonia has been an awesome experience thus far, going into playoff we finished the regular season 20-6.
I'm leading the team in points and fourth in the league in individual points. This season has presented many different challenges and obstacles. Coming from University in Canada the focus was on the development and growth of athletes, results do not matter as much as long as there is growth and development is happening especially during the first few years of school.
However my opinion is there is a much higher demand on the outcome and results of the games at this level. This is not necessarily a bad thing for my individual development as I am still growing as an player but as a professional athlete the club is paying you to perform and for results.
My future endeavours are to move into a bigger league next year and to make the national team in a months time. I am loving the opportunity I have to play ball at this level, volleyball has taking me all around the world and I am optimistic if I keep my work ethic high more opportunities will be created.

End of the Second Season

After a long season at the College of the Rockies I found myself Leading the league in Kills and Total Offence,
4th in Aces, 13th in Blocks and 15th in Digs. I was recently named PACWEST player of the year, All Candian for CCAA and first team all-star.

To top a fantastic individual year off our team qualified for provincial playoffs. seeded 5th we found ourselves playing the host team Capilano Blues despite there 500+ fans we came out on top in 4, the following day we found ourselves against the number 1 team in the league and although our presence was felt on the court we struggled at the serving line which forced us into a bronze medal game. We managed to win the bronze after a 5th set battle with the Camosun Charger 18-16 in the fifth. We managed to beat every team in our league at least once in the season which proves we are capable of competing with the top teams.

Over the past two years I have grown and developed my skills, made some ever lasting friendships and continued my studies into a Business degree. I am definitely will come back to Canada for my 3rd year to continue my ambitions to play volleyball and get a degree. I am very excited to head home and play the national championships once again.

End fo the 1st Semester

The first half of the season was very productive for our team chemistry, Learning how each individual player in our team handles certain situations and one another’s capabilities. We are currently sitting at 4-8 mid way through the season and with all the teams so close at the end of the first semester only 4 wins separating first to last place. Playing on the road the majority of the first semester was physically straining on a lot of players.  However we did manage to get three road wins and two of those wins coming from VIU Mariners. We have never beaten VIU in their gym in the history of Avalanche Volleyball, But both nights we just scrapped 3-2 wins which was something that bonded our team like never before.
On the first road trip I was named PACWEST player of the week, which had given me huge confidence and belief that we could make a big impact on this league.
I cannot wait for the second semester opener against the CBC Bearcats January 10th.
LETS GO AVS!

Sophomore Year.

Upon arriving at the Cranbrook International Airport I found three close friends waiting to pick me up. Once I had settled back into College Residence, I caught up with friends and people I hadn’t seen in four months. Shortly after we commenced practices, weight training, and classes it was time for our first Exhibition road trip to Red Deer where we played 4 games in 3 days, everyone had an opportunity to play and contribute. I ended up making the all-star team for the tournament which was a huge confidence boost going into the season. With only three more weeks until our first season game, having the feeling that the team has jelled, we as a team can’t wait to take PACWEST on! GO AVS!!!

Hi guys,
After touching down in Cranbrook BC, expecting snow and the temperatures to be below 0. I was in for a suprise with a 27 degree day the smallest airport I have ever seen.
Waiting at the airport for me were two very lovely people Mona and George, they showed me around Cranbrook and all the places that they thought i would be interested in.
After moving into Student Housing and get all my supplies sorted, I took the 1 minute walk to the gymnasium were we had orientation, I met up with some of my teammates and they showed me around the College of the Rockies.
The next day i was able to use the weight room facilities and sort out all my text books and study supplies.
So far we have played 4 exhibition matches and are going on our first road trip to Vancouver in two days, I have been announced floor captain of the team. I am very excited to get our season started and play some ball.
