GMVA Junior-Senior Program
The GMVA Junior-Senior Program is generally our second to third year training group, with separate boys and girls training squads.
The Junior-Senior Program has a beach volleyball and indoor volleyball cycle that all athletes participate. The beach cycle takes up about 35% of the program while indoor is the focus of the remainder of the season.
Both programs train at the same time with the same head coach, but we have multiple courts running.
At GMVA Junior athletes are taught how to refine all their skills in volleyball, not just in the position they may play at school or club volleyball. Creating a fully rounded athletes is definitely the goal at GMVA. The athletes should be challenged physically on court each session to improve their fitness and we look to develop areas such as general court awareness and more specific rotations and positions.
During the Summer Cycle, we have a 30 minute conditioning period to training where kids are taught safe body weight exercises in order to strengthen their bodies to reduce the risk of injury, but also start jumping higher and hitting harder.
Squad size: 16 male and 16 female athletes
Training night: Monday 6pm to 8pm at the State Volleyball Centre. Some time variation over the Summer Cycle
Cost: $800 inc gst
