BREAKING NEWS
In a year that has had some great achievements for volleyballers in Victoria, GMVA is very proud to announce that Jordan Richards has signed a contract to go and play professional volleyball in Europe for the 2013-14 season.
Jordan has signed with the Dutch champions Landstede Zwolle and will play in the top division in Holland. Zwolle will also play in the European Cup during the coming season so Jordan will play home and away matches against some of the best teams in Europe.
Jordans volleyball began at Eltham High School with Greg Thomas. He has also played for Falcons and Yarra Ranges in VVL, the State Team Program and finally has been a GMVA athlete for 5 years.
It has not been as easy path for Jordan. He has battled and beaten stress fractures in his back and patella tendinopathy in the past 3 years and has come out of it on top which is a credit to his dedication to his sport and his body.

Introduction
GMVA is the Great Melbourne Volleyball Academy, we are one of the leading volleyball Academies in Australia, having five different training groups to reflect the athletes different needs throughout their development. Each training group has their own head coach that focuses on the skill and physical development that is needed at that age group and skill level. This method makes sure that no matter what age or level you play at with GMVA you will be playing and training with players at or slightly above your skill level.
In 2012-13 the Girls Program will be made up of Girls Junior and a Girls Pro while the Boys Program will be Boys Junior, Boys Senior and Boys Pro
We offer an 11 month per year training cycle covering both beach and indoor volleyball with a focus on strength and conditioning and core control. Our aim is not just to improve volleyball skill but also to strengthen the athletes bodies and ready them for playing more volleyball at a higher level all within our very positive training environment.
The State Volleyball Centre in Dandenong is our training base for the whole cycle as we also use the indoor beach facility at SVC. Our training night is Monday night from 6:00pm through to 8:15pm for the indoor cycle. For the beach cycle we split the training times so there is more court space so there are 2 training times each week. 6:00pm to 7:30pm and 7:30pm to 9:00pm. Every 2 weeks the boys and girls will switch training times.
GMVA has a truly all star coaching line up, with coaches having represented Australia at some age level be it in beach volleyball, indoor volleyball or both. Our coaches have played a combined 3 Olympic games, 6 World Championships, 2 World Cups, 8 Continental Championships and over 50 FIVB World Tour Beach Events. We really believe that to teach someone how to play at the highest level and deal with the pressure of that environment it is important to have experienced it yourself. That's exactly what we have done, be it captaining a gold medal winning Blue team, playing for the national junior or youth team, playing college volleyball or playing professionally around the world
